Run, run as fast as you can...
Grab your copy of The Gingerbread Man and a few ingredients and let's get started! Today, Brickston and I had a friend over to play. This evening is going to be crazy with wrestling practice for Zaven and a performance for Kinsley, so I thought we would go ahead and complete the activity this morning. Don't worry, Kinsley and Zaven will get to do this during their Christmas break next week!
What you need:
- The book, you can get it at this link
- Recipe visual schedule. Get the recipe printable here!
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1/2 TBS cinnamon
- 1/2 TBS ginger
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 TBS vegetable oil
- bowl and spoon for mixing
- cookie cutters
- rolling pins
- beads (not for little ones)
We read the story together. Brickston liked looking at the pictures as his friend finished playing with the playdough.
Using the visual schedule, kids can follow along with the recipe. This playdough is extremely easy to make! No cooking necessary! Just stir and knead everything together!
Isn't this a wonderful gingerbread man?
I love being able to use my Grandma Garvin's cookie cutters. It reminds me of the many Christmases we would sit at her kitchen counter making cookies.
We used our wooden cylinder blocks as mini-rolling pins.
Brickston did attempt to eat the dough, which is harmless. He did NOT like it and spit it out. I bet it was quite salty!
