Day 5: Snowmen at Christmas {12 Days of Christmas}

I had every intention of doing this activity indoors, but I just could not pass up a 58 degree December day!  It's a little strange to think of snowmen when you aren't even wearing a jacket outside!

As always, we started by reading the story together.  You can buy a copy at this affiliate link.
The story follows the snowmen as they come to life on Christmas.  It shows them celebrating, eating ice treats, and visiting with Snow Kris Kringle.

We went outside to make our own life-size snowmen.  You could definitely do this indoors, but just be prepared for a little chalk dust.  You will need a hard floor or something to put under your craft paper.

What you need:

  • Snowmen at Christmas
  • craft paper
  • scissors
  • chalk
  • tape (to tape down the edges of the paper)
Each child stretched out on the paper and waited to be traced.

Next, they filled in their snowmen bodies with chalk.  They decorated the faces.

Brickston was mostly interested in putting the chalk back into the box, so Zaven had to help him decorate his snowman.

Zaven gathered sticks to make arms for the snowmen.  Kinsley used her shoes to finish off her snowgirl.

We brought them inside to hang on their bedroom doors.  We will pretend to have a white Christmas!
