DIY Ms. Frizzle Costume

"It had been a typical day in Ms. Frizzle's class."

Tomorrow is the Book Character Day at the elementary school.  Kinsley struggled with the decision between Junie B. Jones and Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus.  Ultimately, she decided on the eccentric school teacher in the yellow bus.

Kinsley had watched several episodes of The Magic School Bus on Netflix, and she knew she wanted to dress up as Ms. Frizzle from the solar system episode.  We found the book The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System and got to work.

I found a navy blue jumper at The Children's Place that was on clearance.  It is actually a school uniform. Kinsley helped make the planets, stars, moons, and sun out of felt.  We traced bowls and cups to make the circles.  The rest of the pieces were drawn freehand.  She practiced using the hot glue gun (with lots of supervision) to put the pieces on the dress.

Ms. Frizzle has a signature sidekick lizard that is always with her.  We used the Pascal stuffed animal from Tangled as a stand in for the infamous lizard.  Our plan is to tie it on to her shoulder with some yarn.

I am so excited to show you the kids in their costumes!  Zaven will be transformed into Pete the Cat (see how we made it here). Check back to see pictures and a recap from the school party day!
